How to Remove Negative Credit History - Fast

Why pay a credit counselor hundreds of dollars when you can raise your credit score 100 points or more on your own in just a few minutes? There are many things a credit counselor can do to give you advice on improving your rating, but in the end they just do that… give advice on how to do it yourself.

First step is to determine where you stand on the credit score scale by checking your rating online for free. Are you above the national average, or are you teetering in the “red zone” that can get you into trouble? Either way, once you have this information, you’re ready to make your score skyrocket.

All you need to do to raise your credit rating initially is to review your credit file closely. Print out the personal information you receive when you check your score, and take out a pen. What you want to do is find all of the mistakes in your file that don’t belong there, but are dragging your score down.

Three out of four credit reports contain errors that simply don’t belong there, and by law these items must be removed when you notify the reporting agency. It could be something as minor as a wrong home address, but it is not uncommon to find listings of credit card accounts in collection that you never even owned, repossessions, judgments, and other outstanding balances that are just plain false information.

Once you find these, immediately notify the credit reporting agency by filling out their online dispute. They must review your claim and remove items that don’t belong there. This even includes negative items that actually happened over 7 years ago, but still remain on your report.
